CFA now have 8 Mobile Engagement Units (MEU) that are available for all members to use for their brigade community engagement, recruitment and promotional activities.
The Vehicle platform is a Ford Transit Custom 350L, that can be driven on a car licence. It is an automatic and similar in length to a Ford Ranger. It is easy to drive and small enough to use at the local school fete or market. The MEU is designed for external presentation, with an inbuilt large screen monitor and protective awning. It is quick to setup and easy to operate, with no generators or heavy equipment to setup.
The MEU have been built with a solar power system with a 200amp hour battery capacity, to ensure there is plenty of power to operate for the full day, even where there is no mains power available. To support this there is also the ability to plug in to normal mains power when it is available.
The eight MEU are regionally located, at Sale, Dandenong, Diamond Creek, Shepparton, Geelong, Bendigo, Ararat and Hamilton. Contact your district Community Engagement Coordinator to organise a MEU booking to support your brigades next community event.

Vehicle build
Mobile Engagement Units is currently at this stage
Fleet Services procures Vehicles and engages Body builder.
After researching vehicle options that would meet CFA requirements, CFA Engineering have recommended the ford Transit 350L high roof van. On this advice we have ordered 5 of this model with extras such as Tow pack and Satellite navigation included. Unfortunately with the current world wide shortage of vehicle components, the advice is that the vehicles will be delayed until mid 2022.
Positive news is that the Tender for the body modifications and fit out has now closed. We expect to be able to announce a successful tenderer shortly.
